John Savio

John Savio was a Norwegian-Sami artist who lived from 1902 to 1938. Savio was one of the first Sami artists to achieve national recognition in Norway.

John Savio began painting as a teenager, and his art was inspired by traditional Sami culture. In 1923, he began studying art in Oslo, where he was influenced by European artists such as Paul Cézanne and Henri Matisse.

He was particularly known for his use of bright colors and geometric shapes.

During his short career, Savio managed to create a significant number of paintings, which are today appreciated for their originality and quality.

Savio died at the age of 36, but his legacy lives on through his paintings. Today, his works are represented in several of Norway's largest art museums, and he is considered one of the most important Sami artists of modern times.
